Are certified PMPs in high demand?




Someone rightfully asked the other day about the level of demand that PMP certified persons get in the job market today.Certified PMPs or CAPMs are in high demand.Remember its a prestigious international certification and is highly recommended by the global community.Even in these days of economic downturn a project manager is really sort after as an expert that can help bring in projects on time,on budget and on schedule while achieving the business goals and objective for carrying out the project in the first place

There is even a shortage of them currently.World over certified persons in the various areas like Programme Management professional,Risk management professional,scheduling professional and the certified associate in project management are all increasing in the September 2009 edition of PMI Today the totl number of PMPs worldwide is 360,662 for CAPMs is 9,126.Projects are brought in more successfully when a certified person with the experience and skills is at the helm of affairs.

In our PMI lagos chapter nigeria for example we have over 80+ active members in a country of over 70 million people educated persons.The shortage is certainly there.
